Dinosaur 13
I'm always curious to know about the mystery of our life and beyond life. Earth is about 4.5 billion years old, and humans are as old as six million years. Throughout these many years, human has evolved and expanded the civilization around the world and somewhat in space. We have been living these many years, yet we haven't uncovered the earth's truth. I'm currently watching the Ancient Aliens documentary published by History channel. Because of it, I'm curious to know about all the facts and living life that we don't even know that exists.
Because of my curiosity to know more about the earth, I have chosen to watch DInosaur 13 as my documentary project. Recently scientist has announced the new dinosaur related to T. rex. I was interested to know more about it, but I couldn't because of my busy schedule and job. This project gives a perfect opportunity to explore the biggest living creatures that ever lived on earth.
1) Was there a specific scene that got to you and how it moved you?
I have watched almost 30 min of the documentary and not happy at all. I was excited because I thought that this documentary was about how the Dinosaur 13 was found. How it changed the T-rex history that we uncovered yet, but I think it's mostly about the legal fight for the fossil as far as I can tell. It is still the most interesting and mindblowing documentary that I ever watched.
I'm kind of upset that the "SUE", T-rex that named after Susan was not ended up in South Dakota. The whole team was really happy and excited to work on the most preserved T-rex fossil ever found yet. But it turns into a dark nightmare really quick. It was painful to watch the work that they did was gone in seconds and couldn't do anything about it.
2) What surprised you?
Honestly, the whole documentary. Because this is not what I expected. I thought this documentary was the 30 million old past and future that comes with the fossils going to be found in this movie. In beginning the they said the most complete T-rex fossil found was only 40%. But the T-rex fossil they have uncovered is 80%, twice as much complete as what everyone has ever seen.
3) What questions remain after the viewing? What feelings stayed with you after the film?
My biggest question is that the fossil founder will get ownership of their lives' huge discovery or not. As the movie goes I'm really curious to know about it. This was the most complete T-rex fossil ever found, it is obviously a big deal for the whole team. They also lost their life's work with the greatest discovery.
I would say worried about the way this film is going to be continued. Because at the one movement you have achieved something that will not be forgotten. Also on another side, you are facing charges against the work you have done.

It's definitely a conundrum. Greatest find but possible criminality?!! Have you ever seen Sue? She's here, in CHI. It's sad to see the happy archival footage and all the joy of the work, and then to see that it came down to legal arguments and land ownership.
ReplyDeleteThe whole team came to our screening at the festival. I still have a button they gave out as swag!
I did visit to the Chicago field Museum and the "SUE". I didn't know the history behind it until I watched the Dinosaur 13 documentary.
